The following links are for other online image libraries that might help you in your work. A description follows each link, describing the availability of images relating to TB, asthma, child lung health, tobacco, HIV/AIDS, global health issues, and general international development concerns. In addition, information relating to the quality of the images and the copyright policy of each library is provided if this information is available. Regardless of what is stated below, you are responsible for securing permission to download or reproduce images from these libraries and for citing them properly.
American Lung Association Multimedia Library
Multimedia library that contains film, stills, etc. Use of the library requires free registration.
Research and Training in Tropical Disease Image Library
Image library of tropical diseases, including tuberculosis, with free downloads for non-commerical purposes. Images are primarily from clinical settings.
CDC Public Health Image Library
Hundreds of high and low resolution images available for free download.
Bronchoscopic Picture Atlas - Dept. of Radiology, University of Iowa
Hundreds of low resolution images and video clips. Information regarding permission for reproduction is not provided.

An online database of over 700,000 royalty free images. Contains images of tuberculosis, tobacco, asthma, and pollution. Most photos containing people were taken in high-income countries.
National Cancer Institute Visuals Online
Searchable database of cancer-related images. Clinical focus with a limited number of lung cancer images.
US National Library of Medicine, History of Medicine
Searchabe database of 60,000 images related to the history of medicine, including TB sanatoria, old TB Christmas seals, TB or tobacco awareness posters, etc. Most of the photos are of the United States, Western Europe and Eastern Europe. There are some photos of the developing world.
Pathology Image Database
Database geared toward medical professionals. Can be used for non-commercial purposes with written permission.
Google Images
Google search engine that will search images online. Quality of photographs, ability to download, and copyright vary.
Chest X-ray Atlas
Hundreds of chest x-rays with descriptions. Contact medical professor maintaining site for permission to use.
Nanoworld Image Gallery
Searchable database of hundreds of microscopic images, including bacteria, lungs, etc. Free downloading for non-commerical use. Registration required.
National Institutes of Health: "In their own words"
Archive of clinical, activist, and health education images relating to the early years of HIV/AIDS in the United States. No copyright permission required.
Pathology Education Instructional Resource Digital Library
Public access image database for use in medical education.
The Wellcome Trust Medical Photographic Library
Searchable database of 160,000 images relating to the history of medicine. Free registration required. Minimal cost for both commerical and non-commerical use.
World Bank Photo Collection
Searchable database of 11,000 photographs relating to international development, including health. Free registration required. Varying fees for downloading or ordering prints.
Photoshare
Collection of over 10,000 images related to international development. Free download for non-commercial purposes.
Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance Photo Gallery
This photo gallery contains photos of faith-based groups involved in HIV/AIDS work. High-resolution copies are available online free of charge.

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) MediaBase
FAO's MediaBase contains more than 3,000 pictures of people, places and projects related to FAO's work. Photographs in the MediaBase are low-resolution images in jpeg format. Higher resolution pictures can be requested from the FAO Photo Library.
IFAD through Photography
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is a UN agency. Photographs may be reproduced with written permission of IFAD.
IMAGES - The IDRC Photo Library
IMAGES is a searchable database of thousands of images related to the work of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). Images may be downloaded and used, without modification or alteration, for personal use only. Prior written permission must be obtained from the International Development Research Centre for commercial or public use.
PAHO Photo Gallery
The Media Center at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has an extensive collection of photographs on a wide variety of subjects. Photos are free to use on the condition that credit be given to the Pan American Health Organization. (Low-res available for downloading, high-res available upon request).
UNESCO Photobank
UNESCO's online photolibrary displays thousands of photos of the Organization's activities.
USAID Africa Bureau Photo Library
These are photos taken by USAID staff and development partners in Africa. Photos are available upon request for non-commercial and educational purposes only.
Wikimedia Commons Images
A searchable database of thousands of images, including many high resolution images that can be downloaded and reproduced for free. You must check the licensing information of each image.
